Marco Réa

De-Brand Artist

Marco Réa was born on November 1st 1975 in Rome, where he conducted art studies first in high school, then studying comics and illustration and finally graduating in art history. In parallel to his studies, in the nineties he used spray cans to make graffiti and he continued to use them later, to make his works.

Réa alters advertising images, such as posters and covers of fashion magazines, using spray cans to create new representations.
The Roman artist’s works, apparently destructive towards the world of fashion, have aroused the interest of celebrities and people in the sector. Réa does not perform a desecrating act, but one of change and denunciation, painting on the images that propose a falsified reality to reveal another more authentic and personal one. He participated with his works at the Paris fashion week and is today among the most famous fashion illustrator. Contacted by Nick Knight to collaborate with SHOWstudio, he created works for the Prayer to Saint Therese project by Chloe Sevigny and Michel Gaubert and participated in Moving Kate, an exhibition dedicated to Kate Moss and her presence. Recently he exhibited at the MACRO in Rome.
